New Front Lawn Entry Pavilion + Baptistery

The Burnt Hickory Church of Christ in Marietta, Georgia is undergoing growth and seeking to retool their vision moving forward, as they become a church committed to planting churches where there are needs. As such, the original campus will become the main hub for fledgling church plants, and should be a welcoming place whose environment reflects the outward-focused vision. This vision builds outward towards the community with new, cross-shaped entry pavilions, with an outdoor baptistery, on an existing front lawn that is the visual centerpiece of the existing church, but doesn't function as the entry. Inside, an existing foyer functions mainly as prefunction space for the worship center, but the design imagines a facelift to this space, turning it into a more intimate chapel and gathering space that could be accessible 24 hours while still allowing parts of the church to be closed off when necessary.
